# How to Sign In to HBO Max on Your TV With a 6-Digit Code

> Activate HBO Max on your smart TV, Roku, Fire TV, or console by entering the 6-digit code from your TV at hbomax.com/tvsignin on a phone or computer.

To sign in to HBO Max on your TV, open the app, choose **Sign In**, then enter the 6-digit code from your TV screen at hbomax.com/tvsignin on your phone or computer. You won't need to type your email and password with a TV remote.

## Before you start

* The HBO Max app is installed on your TV device (smart TV, streaming player, or game console).
* You have a phone or computer with a web browser nearby.
* You know your HBO Max account email, or you're already signed in to HBO Max on your phone or computer.

## Enter your TV code

  <Step title="Open HBO Max and choose Sign In">
    On your TV, open the HBO Max app and choose **Sign In**. Already signed in to another account? Choose the **Settings** icon (lower left) and then **Sign Out** first.

  <Step title="Keep the code screen open">
    Stay on the TV screen that shows the QR code and the 6-digit code. Don't press back, or the code may change.

  <Step title="Go to the sign-in page">
    On your phone or computer, open a browser and go to **hbomax.com/tvsignin**. The official HBO Max help center lists this page as **HBOMax.com/signin**.

  <Step title="Type the 6-digit code">
    Enter the code exactly as it appears on your TV. If you're already signed in at HBOMax.com, you're signed in on your TV automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in to your account">
    If prompted, enter your HBO Max account email, choose **Continue**, then enter your password or the one-time code sent to your email.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose who's watching">
    Your TV updates automatically. Pick a profile and start streaming.
  </Step>

<Tip>
  Codes expire after a short time. If yours stops working, go back on your TV and choose **Sign In** again to get a fresh code.
